Well the biggest talk online the past couple of days has been of why many Uganda acts didn’t make the cut for nominations in the MTV MAMA Awards, and some expressing their doubt and transparency of MTV, rapper Rowland Kaiza, alias BigTril’s snub was of a huge point of discussion too. I mean, he had a huge musical year (2019), thanks to his explosively viral anthem ‘Parte After Parte’, a track centered around the party loving lifestyle and culture of the vast majority of the population; which would later become a catchy phrase in Kampala.

As opposed to coming out to ‘flex’ about missing out on the nominations, for the MTV Africa Music Awards, the 29-year-old rapper yesterday through his Twitter posted that for the time he’s been in Nigeria this year, he’s learnt a lot about the music business and would be glad to finally open up his own record label; in a bid to sign some really talented underground (budding) Ugandan acts.

Having started with battle rapping during his days at Makerere University, Kaiza met GNL Zamba while at one those rap sessions, who signed him to his Baboon Forest Entertainment imprint then that was popularizing the LugaFlo genre then.

Whereas most people got to dig Trill’s music after the ‘Parte After Parte’ anthem took off, the rapper, producer, composer, songwriter and piano player born had been around for some time, and worked on many other mega tracks such as the groovy ‘Batuwulira’, featuring Fille, Awo, Bad Gyal Ting (Wangi), the ‘color ya Zari song’ (Pretty Girls), among many others.

Trizzy Trizzy (BigTril) has also worked under Striker Entertainment for about six years now. That carries a lot of experience in him, so whatever the plan is, his new record label that he’s set to open up soon will really be blessed with a knowledgeable and multi-talented owner. And of course, we are all looking forward to seeing the artists signed on it.

Once the label is unveiled, BigTril will be joining the likes of Ykee Benda (CEO, Mpaka Records which signed Dre Cali), Benon Mugumbya [famed ‘I Know’ singer, & Founder of Premium Ugandan record label;- Swangz Avenue, which has given us talents Vinka, Azawi, Winnie Nwagi & formerly Irene Ntale).

Fingers are crossed on this one. Like one of the replies to the tweet read; Way to go, Trill! 😊
