Zafaran Likens Lover To The Rain In New Single – Ankuba

Date:

2022 has been of a great year of new artists making their mark on the music industry not just on the local scene but globally as well. Back home, Zafaran has been one of those; with just two records out.

The Swangz Avenue talent has expanded her ever-growing catalog with a new track on which she heaps praises on her Man Crush tagged ‘Ankuba’.

‘Ankuba’ gets its title from a loose translation of slang of the feeling of ‘someone being attracted to another’, commonly said as ‘okukuba’. For instance, you could say ‘Omwana oyo Constance ankuba’; to mean that you are attracted to Constance and that you like her.

On her 3rd solo release (following ‘Sweet Heart’ and ‘Mwoto’) which also serves as her last one for this year, Zafaran sings of how her love interest’s love shines bright, and also likens it to the rain that’s only brought about by a thick cloud as heard in the song’s chorus:

“Kire nankuba nga tuli babiri kire nankuba kire nankuba agawalayi ono omwana ankuba Ono omwana matala nebwotamuliisa matala ono cake yamadala etayagala matala ahhh,”

The track was written by Tamugi; produced by talented beats smith Steyn and mastered by the king of melodies Steve Keys; coupled with Zafaran’s deep raspy vocal ability to dish out a beautiful record that is ‘Ankuba’.

Shot from The National Library on Buganda Road, the Aaronaire direction is simple yet precise, with a flowing storyline of falling in love with a workmate. As for the styling of outfits rocked in the visuals, Tazibone Solomon did the thing.

‘Ankuba’ is out now and streaming on all major music listening platforms. Do watch its visuals below and share your thoughts:
