The Nigerian heartthrob Chukwuka Ekweani who is also professionally known as Ckay dominated 2020 with the breakout single “Love Nwantiti” following it up with a string of remixes. He’s since proved he was capable of crafting a meaningful body of work, showcasing his unique sound with ambient and soulful afro-fusion tunes; culminating in a debut album;- ‘Sad Romance’.

Following his successful European, and North American tour, the emo-afrobeats star continues to be deep in the promotional cycle for his album and ultimately has got Africa in his plans; as he is wrapping it up in Nigeria on the 15th of December, but this piece is not about Naija, it is for the Ugandan fans.

August was when we were to be graced with a performance from him, however, this did not happen; to the disappointment of many. He has however sent fans and music lovers into a frenzy and excitement overdrive when announced he’d be flying in as the headlining act for ‘Party in the Park’ happening at the Lugogo Grounds later this year.

While here, he’ll serenade crowds to a medley of his jams; from ‘Kiss Me Like You Miss Me’, ‘dtf’, ‘Emiliana’, and more.

As a co-headliner, joining as an add-on to the already heavy lineup of ‘Party in the Park’ is Oxlade; Mr ‘KU LO SA’. Whereas this will be the buzzing singer’s third time coming to Uganda; it could be his first to actually perform. When Oxy made his debut appearance in 2019, he wasn’t able to perform due to the heavy downpour, and then recently, the ‘Away’ hitmaker pulled out of ‘The Big Show’ following misunderstandings with the organizers according to a statement he released the following day.

With rising star Joshua Baraka leading the charge as one of the opening acts at the show; plus a host of the hottest DJs and hype men including DJ Kas Baby and DJ Vans; and host Sheilah Gashumba, this event promises nothing less than pure musical magic from start to finish. Whether you’re an afrobeats purist or an Afropop fanatic, there’s something for everyone at Party in the Park.

Early bird tickets are available on Quicket, M-Ticket and on USSD code *252# for only UGx. 100,000. So, what are you waiting for? Let your passion for music and style burn bright for the unforgettable evening at the Lugogo Grounds come December 17th.
