Uganda’s longest-running awards returned with the 15th edition last Sunday 19th December 2021. Streamed live with with a small invite-only guest list, the event was a smooth as we have come to expect them.

The event was hosted by the new kids on the block Mc Ollo and Daddy Simz. Guests included winners, nominees, and several teen stars and some of the stand-out figures included the Kyagulanyi teens (Solomon Kampala and Shalom Namagembe), Anita Kalule, Nyangoma of Ghetto Kids, and E- Iconz from South Africa.

The awards show which is now in its 15th edition was packed with star performances from Fik Fameica, Liam Voice, An Known, Pia Pounds, Aroma, Zex Bilangi Langi & Vinka.  Some of the outstanding winners were:

Azawi who was the greatest winner of the day walking away with 5 accolades, Mc Kats and Abryanz won lifetime recognition for their works and inspiring the youths over time.

MC Kats:

Kats has been a constant fixture on all teen-related activities over the 15 years and has mentored and inspired a lot of young emcees over time. At the event, he was applauded for his recent fight against HIV and the awareness he’s brought to the youth. “Don’t give up, take your meds and keep your dreams,” Kats said in his acceptance speech.

Abryanz: From just a dream of being the best, Abryanz’s story has inspired so many youths to achieve their dreams too. He has played a big role in the lives of youth. His story has been an inspiration to many youths. Over the years through styling artists and public figures, he has been setting fashion trends that youth look at when it comes to their sense of fashion

“So if you are a young person out there, with a dream that society does not appreciate, this award is for you, remember that a young boy from Masindi today was accredited with the heaviest award, not because he is a doctor, lawyer or bank manager but a designer who has stayed true to himself, his passion and his legacy. I can’t say its easy, but its surely possible so go and chase your dreams unapologetically!” Abryanz said at the event.
