Baru has been dishing out back-to-back projects; and mostly collaborations including one with Prycee Teeba (Lions And Lambs, It Is What It Is), Precious (Magdalene), and hopes to work on more.

While speaking at the listening party, the music genius revealed that creating this sound was something that was sort for new to him and he, therefore, sought to collaborate with fellow music creatives Daddy Cabu and Abaasa.

Describing the project, he termed it as a happy, colorful funky album that samples a bit of this and that; more so in the sounds as it has a blend of South African sounds by singers like Brenda Fassie, and 90’s Hip-hop.

Baru also added that ‘Chwez Funk’ is heavily inspired by the sounds he grew up listening to; and it draws his name from the fact that he believes funk is a sound of the gods and that when he looked around, the closest relation we have had to gods in Uganda were the Bachwezi hence the name ‘Chwez Funk’.

Featured on Chwezi Funk are Julius Ssese, JC Muyonjo, Essie, Paul Mayanja, Tucker HD, Sitenda, and Tonya.
