Celebrated media maven, social media influencer, emcee, fashion-prenuer, and benevolent philanthropist Sheilah Carol Gashumba is not holding back in applauding Vinka’s artistry and giving her her flowers.

Taking to her X (formerly known as Twitter) platform, Sheilah bestowed the coveted title of “Female Artist of 2023” upon the sensational “Love Panic” crooner in a tweet that read:

“Vinka is deffo the best female artist 2023!! No cap”

I do ‘BELIEVE’ (catch the wordplay?) we can all concur with Sheilah’s proclamation on every level, especially considering Vinka’s recent milestone as the Spotify EQUAL Ambassador for October.

Without diminishing anyone’s efforts, it’s noteworthy that in a seemingly male-dominated realm, several hardworking female artists are shattering barriers — Pia Pounds and, of course, Vinka just to name but a few.

Noteworthy is Vinka’s historic achievement as the first Ugandan female artist to top the Apple Music Top 100 chart shortly after the release of her scorching single “Bailando,” a chart typically ruled by international acts.

Beyond the triumph of “Bailando,” Vinka has graced major titles this year, such as “Tutu Mama” from Elijah Kitaka’s Extended Play (EP) “Bedroom Essentials” and the Remix to “Chekecha” alongside Winnie Nwagi, a song originally by Karole Kasita. Adding to that, is her collab with Dax Vibez “Believe” which is not only ruling the airwaves but also reigning atop the Shazam Charts as the most searched and discovered track at the moment. Talk about unwavering consistency!

This exceptional journey has propelled the artist, who transitioned from manager to musician, performer, vocalist, choreographer, and all-around entertainer, to the grandest stages both in Uganda and internationally. In 2023 alone, she has dazzled audiences at Blankets And Wine to the Ice Cream and Cake Festival, and The Rugby Chill’s 3rd Year Anniversary, and extended her global imprint to stages in Germany, Dubai, Sweden, and more, showcasing her superstar prowess.

Adding another feather to her cap, she was bestowed with a Silver Creator Plaque by YouTube in June 2023 for surpassing 100,000 subscribers on the platform.

As part of Swangz Avenue/ Sony Music Entertainment, Veronica Nakiyingi Lugya, professionally known as Vinka, continues to captivate hearts one song at a time. The year 2023 might just mark the commencement of numerous milestones, thanks to her unwavering dedication, innovative flair, free-spirited essence, and, crucially, the formidable supporting team she works with at the record label.
