Born Chukwuka Ekweani, the Chocolate City/Warner Bros buzzing Nigerian pop star has hit one milestone after another; right from Billboard to smashing his own Spotify records; an indication that CKay’s ever-growing music catalog is one that’s highly coveted worldwide & places him in the high ranks of the most successful digital Nigerian pop stars.
EPs ‘Ckay the First’ and ‘Boyfriend’, and hits ‘Emiliana’, ‘Maria’, and most recently Davido, Focalistic and Abidoza assisted ‘Watawi’ are some of CKay’s enviable hit tracks that are delivered in his unique sound made up of melodies which he likes to refer to aemo-afrobeats.
The Big Brunch as an extravaganza has made a reputation of putting at the center stage raving West African stars; with the headliners of 2020 being Tems & Omah Lay, then Ruger in the first quarter of this year as the event broke its one year pause, and now CKay who is currently on tour. He is expected to feed the masses on his melodious sounds this 20th of August in Kampala, Uganda; nearly 3weeks after his ‘Beggie Beggie’ collaborator Ayra Starr’s headlining of Blankets and Wine.
Other names who shall be in the mix as opening acts shall be announced by the organizers soon, but just like someone tweeted, whoever didn’t use the lockdown to rest, its on them, as more of our favorite stars are coming in to perform at various events.
